French progressive metal musical groups

Gojira is a French heavy metal band from Ondres. Founded as Godzilla in 1996, the band's lineup—brothers Joe (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums), Christian Andreu (lead guitar), and Jean-Michel Labadie (bass)—has been the same since the band changed its name to Gojira in 2001. Gojira has been known for their progressive and technical death metal styles and their spiritual, philosophical, and environmentally themed lyrics. The band has gone "from the utmost obscurity during the first half of their career to widespread global recognition in the second". Gojira also became the first heavy metal band to perform at an Olympics opening ceremony during the 2024 Summer Olympics in France.

Hypno5e is a French experimental metal band formed in Montpellier in 2003. The band has released their first album, Des Deux l'Une Est l'Autre in January 2007. The album was released in all of France Hypno5e uses both lyrics in French and in English. The band has toured throughout France and the United States with other bands such as Gojira, The Ocean Collective, Watcha, Black Bomb Ä and Eths.

Adagio is a French progressive metal band formed in 2000 by guitarist Stephan Forté.

They have miscellaneous influences, mainly Thrash Metal, Groove Metal, Heavy Metal, Punk Hardcore, and in a more subtle way, by Death Metal, Doom Metal, Progressive Metal and Rock.
