Estonian comedy and humour

Meie Mats, named after an Estonian folk song, is a prestigious yearly humour award issued since 1987 and originally initiated by Edgar Spriit, the chief editor of Pikker, a long-time Estonian humour magazine. The award is customarily announced on April 1, the April Fools' Day, and it can only be awarded to any person once, in recognition of his life work in the field of humour, satire and comedy.

Ivan Orav (September 1, 1908 – June 19, 2009) is a fictional character created by Estonian writer Andrus Kivirähk, who published a book "Memoirs of Ivan Orav or the Past as Azure Mountains" (Ivan Orava mälestused, ehk, Minevik kui helesinised mäed) in 1995. The book mocks popular stereotypes about the interbellum period of Estonian independence.

Pikker was an Estonian magazine of satire and humor published between 1943 and 2001.

Tallinna narrid ja narrikesed (Estonian for Big Fools and Little Fools of Tallinn) is a satirical 1892 series by Eduard Bornhöhe depicting cranks in their daily activities. Particularly famous is the first part, Kuulsuse narrid (Fools of Fame), whose protagonists Jaan Tatikas and Saalomon Vesipruul have become well-known stereotypes in Estonian culture.
