Electric power companies of Thailand

The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) (Abrv: กฟภ. kofopho; Thai: การไฟฟ้าส่วนภูมิภาค, Kan Faifa Suan Phumiphak) is a Thai state enterprise under the Ministry of Interior. Established on 28 September 1960 by the Provincial Electricity Authority Act 1960 (BE 2503, it is currently headed by Chayabol Thitisak. PEA is responsible for providing electricity in 74 provinces in Thailand—all except Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Nonthaburi)—which are served by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority.

B.Grimm (Thai: บี.กริม) is a multinational conglomerate founded in 1878, based in Bangkok, Thailand. The large-scale conglomerate is active in healthcare, energy, building & industrial systems, real estate, e-commerce, and transport; with 22% annual growth in recent years. The company is wholly owned and operated by the Link family. The chairman and CEO, Harald Link, is a noted polo player and philanthropist.

Glow Energy PCL is a power and utility company in Thailand established in 1993. Glow Energy is one of the largest private electricity generators in Thailand. Its core business is to produce and supply electricity to EGAT, and to produce and deliver electricity, steam, and processed water to industrial customers. EGAT power purchase agreements are central to Glow's business, accounting for 59.7 percent of revenues in 2015. Glow Energy is a subsidiary of Engie. The French energy company has a 69.11 percent stake in Glow.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) (Thai: การไฟฟ้าฝ่ายผลิตแห่งประเทศไทย; kan fai fa fai phalit haeng prathet thai) is a state enterprise, managed by the Ministry of Energy, responsible for electric power generation and transmission as well as bulk electric energy sales in Thailand. EGAT, established on 1 May 1969, is the largest power producer in Thailand, owning and operating power plants at 45 sites across the country with a total installed capacity of 15,548 MW.

The Siam Electricity Company Limited was the first power company in Thailand. It provided electricity for Bangkok from its Wat Liap Power Plant throughout the first half of the twentieth century, and also was a major operator of the city's tram system.

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) (Thai: การไฟฟ้านครหลวง) is a Thai state enterprise under the Ministry of Interior. It was established on 1 August 1958 by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority Act 1958 (BE 2501). Its governor is Mr Somchai Roadrungwasinkul.

Banpu Public Company Limited is an energy company based in Thailand. Its three core businesses are energy resources (coal and gas); energy generation (conventional and renewable); and energy technology (wind and solar, storage systems, and energy technologies). As of 2015 Banpu is headed by CEO Somruedee Chaimongkol. In the 2012 Forbes Global 2000, Banpu was ranked as the 1707th -largest public company in the world.
