Helena Nancy Moreno (born September 30, 1977) is an American journalist, businesswoman, and politician serving as the president of the New Orleans City Council and First Division Councilmember-at-Large. Moreno was formerly a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, where she represented the District 93. She was first elected in May 2010 during a special election and was unopposed in her re-election in the fall of 2011. On October 14, 2017, Moreno was elected to the Division 1 at-large seat on the New Orleans City Council, winning by nearly 2–1 against her two opponents, fellow Democratic state Representative Joseph Bouie Jr. and Democrat Kenneth Cutno, and avoiding a runoff.

Willard Lloyd Rambo (March 22, 1917 – November 28, 1984) was an American politician. He served as a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives and the Louisiana State Senate.

Katrina Renee Jackson (born July 1977) is a lawyer from Monroe, Louisiana, who is a Democratic member of the Louisiana State Senate for the 34th district, serving since 2020. From 2012 until 2020, Jackson served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for the 16th district, which includes Morehouse and Ouachita parishes.

Patrick Travis Swilling (born October 25, 1964) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, and the Oakland Raiders. He earned five Pro Bowl appearances in his NFL career and was the Associated Press (AP) NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1991. He served from 2001 to 2004 as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.

Kathleen Babineaux Blanco (December 15, 1942 – August 18, 2019) was an American politician who served as the 54th Governor of Louisiana from January 2004 to January 2008. A member of the Democratic Party, she was the first and only woman elected as the state's governor.

Riley Joseph Wilson (November 12, 1871 – February 23, 1946) was a Louisiana educator, attorney and legislator in the first half of the late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. A Democrat, Wilson served in the United States House of Representatives from 1915 until 1937. He was defeated for renomination in 1936 by Newt V. Mills.

Karen Carter Peterson (born November 1, 1969) is an American lawyer and politician serving as a member of the Louisiana State Senate from the 5th district. She previously served as the chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party from 2012 to 2020, becoming the first female chair of the state party. In 2017, Peterson was elected vice chair of civic engagement and voter participation for the Democratic National Committee.

Edward James Gay (February 3, 1816 – May 30, 1889) was a financier and member of United States Congress. He was born at Liberty, Bedford County, Virginia, in the United States. Gay and his wife Lavinia Hynes were the grandparents of U.S. Senator Edward James Gay.

Edward James Gay III (May 5, 1878 – December 1, 1952) was a United States Senator from Louisiana.

John Bennett Johnston Jr. (born June 10, 1932) is an American attorney and politician in the Democratic Party and later lobbyist. He represented Louisiana in the United States Senate from 1972 to 1997. He was re-elected to several terms.
