Cobi is the official mascot of the 1992 Summer Olympics and Petra is the official mascot of the 1992 Summer Paralympics, both held in Barcelona, Spain.

Josep Torras i Bages born at Les Cabanyes, Alt Penedès, on 12 September 1846, died at Vic, Osona, on 7 February 1916, was a Catalan thinker, writer, and bishop. He was one of the main figures in the turn of the 20th century Catholic Catalan nationalism.

The Sant Jordi Awards (Catalan: Premis Sant Jordi; Spanish: Premios Sant Jordi) are film prizes awarded annually by the Catalan branch of the Spanish public radio network Radio Nacional de España (RNE), Ràdio 4. The awards were established in 1957.

The Congress of Catalan Culture (in Catalan, el Congrés de Cultura Catalana, abbreviated as CCC) was a group of activities organized by the School of Lawyers of Barcelona, geared towards the study and diffusion of the Catalan culture, developed between 1975 and 1977.

The Spanish language is widely spoken in most of the Catalan-speaking territories, where it is partly characterized by language contact with the Catalan language. These territories are: Catalonia, the Valencian Community (except some inland areas which are only Spanish-speaking), the Balearic Islands, Andorra, and the easternmost areas of Aragon. This linguistic contact is encouraged by the fact that almost all of the Catalan speakers in these regions are Catalan–Spanish bilingual to a greater or lesser extent.

A botijo, also called búcaro in Spanish, càntir in Catalan, canabarro in Galician, txongil in Basque, and boteja in Hispanic America, is a traditional porous clay container designed to contain water. The botijo, or water jar, is a typical element of culture in many parts of Spain and may vary in shape and color. Although the botijo can, exceptionally, also be found in glass, metal or even plastic, it is usually and traditionally made of clay, due to the properties of this material, such that, once the botijo is filled, it cools the water that it contains, acting as an evaporative cooler.

The Fundació Ramon Llull (English: "Ramon Llull Foundation"), also known by the acronym FRL, is an international organization constituted in 2008 in order to promote Catalan language and culture internationally. Its members are the following institutions from countries and regions where Catalan language is spoken: the Government of Andorra, the Ramon Llull Institute (through which the governments of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands participate), the General Council of the Pyrénées-Orientales, the city council of Alghero and the Network of Valencian Cities.
