    Amita Kuttner ( AH-mee-tÉ™; born December 4, 1990) is a Canadian astrophysicist and politician who has been the interim leader of the Green Party of Canada since November 24, 2021. Kuttner first ran for office in the 2019 federal election, seeking a House of Commons seat as a Green candidate, followed by a run for Green Party leadership in 2020 following the election. They are the first transgender person and the first person of East Asian descent to lead a federal party in Canada.

She was the first political candidate at the Canadian provincial level to publicly identify as transgender and ran for the Ontario Libertarian Party. In 2014, she helped lead the Trans Pride march. She is a member of the Trans Lobby Group, which lobbied at Queen's Park to pass Toby's Law, and has campaigned for transgender rights and gay-straight alliances for LGBT youth.

    Estefan Cortes-Vargas (born Estefania Cortes-Vargas, 1991) is a Colombian-born Canadian politician and non-profit administrator who was elected in the 2015 Alberta general election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the electoral district of Strathcona-Sherwood Park as a member of the Alberta New Democratic Party. Upon election, they became one of the first three out LGBT people elected to the Alberta legislature, alongside caucus colleagues Michael Connolly and Ricardo Miranda.
