    Stephen John Nash OC OBC (born 7 February 1974) is a Canadian professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he was an eight-time All-Star and a seven-time All-NBA selection. Nash was a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the Phoenix Suns.

    Jamaal Dane Magloire (born May 21, 1978) is a Canadian retired professional basketball player who currently serves as a consultant and team ambassador for the Toronto Raptors. He played 12 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, and Toronto Raptors. The 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m), 265 lb (120 kg; 18.9 st) center was selected out of the University of Kentucky by the Charlotte Hornets, with the 19th overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft, after withdrawing his name from the previous draft. He was voted into the NBA All-Star Game in 2004, becoming only the second Canadian All-Star in NBA history.

    James Naismith (November 6, 1861 – November 28, 1939) was a Canadian-American physical educator, physician, Christian chaplain, sports coach, and innovator. The same year he left Canada for Springfield, Massachusetts, he invented the game of basketball. He wrote the original basketball rule book and founded the University of Kansas basketball program. Naismith lived to see basketball adopted as an Olympic demonstration sport in 1904 and as an official event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, as well as the birth of the National Invitation Tournament (1938) and the NCAA Tournament (1939).

    Wayne Yearwood (born September 22, 1964) is a Canadian former professional and Olympic basketball player, who was with the Canadian national team. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he played for Team Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, along with his friend and teammate Dwight Walton, and played seven years with the Canadian national team along with Steve Nash for several years, and eight years playing professionally in Europe. Yearwood played college basketball at Dawson College, with friends and teammates Dwight Walton and Trevor C. Williams. In the United States, he played NCAA Division I college basketball at West Virginia University. He played two years in Greek Basket League with the colors of Panathinaikos and Apollon Patras. Yearwood also played football as a wide receiver for West Virginia and was selected by the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League in the 2nd round of the 1988 CFL Draft.

He previously served as the head coach of the NBA's Toronto Raptors and the interim head coach of the Phoenix Suns. A former Canadian national team player who competed in two Olympics, he has also had two stints as head coach of the national team.

He was previously the Manager of Men's High-Performance at Canada Basketball, as well as holding head coach roles with the UOIT Ridgebacks, University of Waterloo Warriors men's basketball team and the head coach of the University of Alberta Golden Bears, where he replaced coach Don Horwood, who had manned the Bears bench for 26 seasons. Francis was also the head coach of the Canadian junior men’s national team, assistant coach of the Canadian senior men's national team and the Canadian men's basketball national coach.

    Peter Francis Newell (August 31, 1915 – November 17, 2008) was an American college men's basketball coach and basketball instructional coach. He coached for 15 years at the University of San Francisco, Michigan State University and the University of California, Berkeley, compiling an overall record of 234 wins and 123 losses. He led the University of California to the 1959 NCAA men's basketball championship, and a year later coached the gold medal-winning U.S. team at the 1960 Summer Olympics, a team that would be inducted as a unit to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. After his coaching career ended he ran a world-famous instructional basketball camp and served as a consultant and scout for several National Basketball Association (NBA) teams. He is often considered to be one of the most influential figures in the history of basketball.
