Super Bowl LVI was an American football game played to determine the champion of the National Football League (NFL) for the 2021 NFL season. The National Football Conference (NFC) champion Los Angeles Rams defeated the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Cincinnati Bengals, 23–20. The game was played on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the home stadium of the LA Rams, marking the second consecutive Super Bowl and second overall Super Bowl to feature a team playing and winning in its home stadium.

The 1988 Holiday Bowl was a college football bowl game played December 30, 1988, in San Diego, California. It was part of the 1988 NCAA Division I-A football season. It featured the 12th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, and the 15th ranked Wyoming Cowboys.

The San Joaquin Valley League was a minor league baseball league that operated from 1910 through 1911. The league operated primarily in the San Joaquin Valley in California. The league disbanded on July 18, 1911.

The Santa Clara Swim Club (abbreviated SCSC) is a renowned swimming club and team based in Santa Clara, California. Part of USA Swimming, it is a USA Swimming Gold Medal Club and a part of the Pacific LSC, sub-governed by Zone 1 South. Founded in 1951 by George Haines, the team's coach until 1974, the club has many notable alumni, including Donna de Varona, Pablo Morales, Don Schollander, Mark Spitz, Chris von Saltza, Lynn Burke, George Harrison, Steve Clark, and Paul Hait. Swimmers from the club have earned 71 Olympic medals: 42 gold, 18 silver, and 11 bronze. In 1966, the City of Santa Clara built the Santa Clara International Swim Center, which became the home of the club. It was renamed the George F. Haines International Swim Center in June 2001 in honor of its founding coach.

The Camellia Bowl was a college football postseason game in Sacramento, California, which is nicknamed the Camellia City. It was held sixteen times at Hughes Stadium, from 1961 through 1975, and once more in 1980.

The 2016 Sun Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game, played on December 30, 2016. It was one of the 2016–17 bowl games concluding the 2016 FBS football season. It featured the Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 Conference and the North Carolina Tar Heels of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The California Winter League is an instructional showcase league for free agent baseball players who are looking to earn a professional contract before spring training begins. The league was created by Andrew Starke in 2010. The league takes place in Palm Springs, CA at the Palm Springs Stadium complex which is a former spring training facility of the Angels. In 2019, the CWL will celebrate its 10th season as players report to Palm Springs on February 4th, 2019. Over the previous 9 seasons, over 650 former CWL players have earned a contract following the CWL and gone on to play professionally. Fans are welcome for game days and can enjoy promotions such as $2 Beers on Saturdays as well as discounted admission prices for locals, out of state residents, and Canadian residents on specific days throughout the week.

The 1962 Oakland Raiders season began with the team trying to improve on their 2–12 record from 1961. The 1962 season was the third season in Oakland and in the American Football League. It ended with the Raiders finishing in last place in the AFL West. They won only one game and lost 13 while playing their home games at Frank Youell Field in Oakland.

The Los Angeles Strings were a team tennis franchise in TeamTennis. They were the namesake of the original Los Angeles Strings and were owned by Jerry Buss who also owned the original team. The Strings played their home matches at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The Strings won the 1981 TeamTennis championship in their inaugural season.
