Alice Duer Miller (July 28, 1874 – August 22, 1942) was a writer from the U.S. whose poetry actively influenced political opinion. Her feminist verses made an impact on the suffrage issue, and her verse novel The White Cliffs encouraged U.S. entry into World War II. She also wrote novels and screenplays.

James Herbert McGraw (1860 – 1948), born in Harmony, New York, USA, was co-founder of what is now McGraw-Hill Education. He was the president of McGraw-Hill from 1917 to 1928. The McGraw Publishing Company and the Hill Publishing Company merged their book departments in 1909.

George Theodore Werts (March 24, 1846 – January 17, 1910) was an American Democratic Party politician, who served as the 28th Governor of New Jersey from 1893 to 1896. Werts created the Palisades Interstate Park Commission which saved the New Jersey Palisades from being quarried for their rock.

Theodore Fitz Randolph (June 24, 1826 – November 7, 1883) was an American Democratic Party politician, who served as the 22nd Governor of New Jersey from 1869 to 1872, and represented the state in the United States Senate for a single term, from 1875 to 1881. He was the son of US Representative James F. Randolph.

Mahlon R. Pitney (February 5, 1858 – December 9, 1924) was an American lawyer and Republican Party politician who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1895 to 1899 and as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1911 to 1922.

Rear Admiral Philip Henry Cooper (5 August 1844 – 29 December 1912) was an officer in the United States Navy. He fought in the American Civil War and served as Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy and as Commander-in-Chief of the United States Asiatic Fleet.

George Thomas Cobb (October 13, 1813 – August 12, 1870) was an American Democratic Party politician who represented New Jersey's 4th congressional district from 1861 to 1863.

Augustus William Cutler (October 22, 1827 – January 1, 1897) was a 19th-century politician and lawyer from New Jersey. The great-grandson of Silas Condict, he served two terms in the United States House of Representatives from 1875 to 1879.

Emile Henry Lacombe (January 29, 1846 – November 28, 1924) was a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and of the United States Circuit Courts for the Second Circuit.
