Brazilian space program

Marcos Cesar Pontes (born March 11, 1963) is a Brazilian Air Force pilot, engineer, AEB astronaut and author. He became the first South American and the first Lusophone to go into space when he docked onto the International Space Station aboard Soyuz TMA-8 on March 30, 2006. He is the only Brazilian to have completed the NASA astronaut training program, although he switched to training in Russia after NASA's Space Shuttle program encountered problems. After Jair Bolsonaro's victory as President of Brazil in 2018, Pontes was officially nominated to be Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, a post which he accepted days later.

Galileo Solar Space Telescope – Multi-mission Platform (GSST-PMM) is a mission proposed by Brazil's National Institute for Space Research (INPE) that aims to precisely measure the solar radiation at the top of the Earth's atmosphere, the magnetic field in the photosphere and the upper solar atmosphere.

VS-50 (suborbital rocket VS-50) is a joint development of sounding rocket from the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE) and German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Alcântara Cyclone Space (ACS) was a joint-venture with Brazilian and Ukrainian capital established on August 31, 2006 with the objective of commercializing and launching satellites using the Ukrainian space rocket Cyclone-4 (or Tsyklon-4) from the Alcântara Launch Center, in the Brazilian state of Maranhão. In July 2015, however, cooperation between the two countries was canceled by the government of Brazil.

The Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Portuguese: Instituto de Aeronáutica e Espaço) is a military research organization of the Brazilian Air Force's Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), founded on 1 January 1954.

The China–Brazil Earth Resources Satellite program (CBERS) is a technological cooperation program between Brazil and China which develops and operates Earth observation satellites.

The VS-15 is a Brazilian sounding rocket. It consists of a single, liquid fuel recoverable stage, based on the new L-15 engine (with 15 kN of thrust). It would mainly qualify the L-15 engine in flight. The engine development project was canceled in 2013.

The VLM (Veículo Lançador de Microsatélites) is a proposed three-stage satellite launcher being developed by the Brazilian General Command for Aerospace Technology in collaboration with Germany. The project originated in 2008 as a simplified version of the VLS-1 rocket, using only the core stages. The first launch is currently planned for no earlier than October 2028

The VS-40 (Foguete Suborbital VS-40) is a Brazilian sounding rocket using solid fuel and stabilized aerodynamically.

The VS-30 is a Brazilian sounding rocket, developed by the Instituto de Aeronáutica e Espaço and derived from the Sonda 3 sounding rocket first stage. It consists of a single, solid-fuelled stage, and has been launched from Alcântara, Maranhão and Barreira do Inferno, Rio Grande do Norte, in Brazil, and Andøya and Svalbard Rocket Range in Norway.
