Blumenau

Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau (December 26, 1819 – October 30, 1899) was a German pharmacist who founded the city of Blumenau, situated in the Itajaí-Açu river valley in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Blumenau (Latin: Dioecesis Florumpratensis) is a diocese located in the city of Blumenau in the ecclesiastical province of Joinville in Brazil.

Blumenau is a city in Vale do Itajaí, Santa Catarina state, in the South Region of Brazil, 130 km (81 mi) from the state capital Florianópolis.

The Oktoberfest of Blumenau is a festival of German traditions that happens in middle October in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil. It is considered the 2nd biggest German festival in the Americas, and the third biggest Oktoberfest celebration in the world after the original Oktoberfest from Munich.

Companhia Hering (Cia Hering) is a Brazilian textile and retail clothing company, being the leading clothing textile company in Latin America. The company has 805 stores. The company is one of the oldest Brazilian companies still in activity, founded by German brothers Bruno and Hermann Hering, in 1880. It was founded in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, and its headquarters and major factories are still in this city. Hering is the major employer in the city (excluding public service jobs).

On April 5, 2023, a hatchet attack occurred at a daycare center in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Four children were killed; five others were injured. Luiz Henrique Lima, a 25-year-old male and the suspected attacker, who is believed to have jumped over a wall to gain access to the school, surrendered at a nearby police station.

Eisenbahn is a microbrewery in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil. It produces beer following the Reinheitsgebot, with a variety of flavours and fermentations. "Eisenbahn" means railroad in German and refers to a station that was close to the building now used by the company as a bar and beer production base. Eisenbahn was founded in 2002, and is currently owned by Heineken N.V., who acquired Eisenbahn's then-parent company Brasil Kirin (formerly known as Schincariol) in 2017.

Itoupava Central is a neighborhood of Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil located on north zone of the River Itajai-Açu. The principal streets are Alex Borchardt, better known as Sunset (in Portuguese: Pôr do sol), Pedro Zimmermann and Gustavo Zimmermann. A small part of this neighborhood is subject to flooding. WEG Transmissão e Distribuição, VEDAX, ABB Transformadores, Tecnoblu and Bebidas Max Willhelm are the main industrial plants on the area. The neighborhood is the home to three well known craft breweries: Bierland, Container and Alles Blau. Blumenau's regional airport (Quero-Quero) is located here. Ginástico Danceteria is the most important night club.

Blumenau Esporte Clube is a football club from the city of Blumenau in the south Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The club was founded on 19 July 1919 as Brasil Football Club. In 1936 the club was renamed to Recreativo Brasil Esporte Clube, and in 1944, owing to a law prohibiting national denominations in club names, to Palmeiras Esporte Clube.

Grêmio Esportivo Olímpico, commonly known as Olímpico, was a Brazilian football club based in Blumenau, Santa Catarina state. They won the Campeonato Catarinense twice.
