Belgian people convicted of robbery

Johannes "Jan" de Lichte (7 April 1723 – 13 November 1748) was an 18th-century Flemish outlaw and gang leader. Motivated by poverty during the upheavals of the Austrian War of Succession (1740–48), de Lichte led a gang of bandits who committed burglaries, robberies, and several murders in Flanders. Captured and executed in 1748, he was subsequently rehabilitated in the fictional works of Louis Paul Boon in 1958 and has subsequently inspired a sculpture and film series.

Gabriel Brühl (died 1743) was a well-known robber in the then Duchy of Limburg, whose criminal career started in the 1720s and ended with his being hanged in 1743.

Nordine Ben Allal (born 1978 or 1979) is a Belgian criminal of Moroccan origin who was sentenced to a 27-year prison sentence in June 2004 for several robberies. In October 2007 he made headlines when he used a helicopter to escape from prison.

Abdelhamid Abaaoud (Arabic: عبد الحميد أبا عود‎, ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ʾAbā ʿŪd; 8 April 1987 – 18 November 2015) was a Belgian-Moroccan Islamic militant who had spent time in Syria. He was suspected of having organized multiple terror attacks in Belgium and France, and is known to have masterminded the November 2015 Paris attacks. Prior to the Paris attacks, there was an international arrest warrant issued for Abaaoud for his activities in recruiting individuals to Islamic terrorism in Syria.
