It serves as the administrative center of Babruysk District, though it is administratively separated from the district. It is situated on the Berezina River. Babruysk occupies an area of 66 square kilometres (25 sq mi), and comprises over 450 streets whose combined length stretches for over 430 km (267 mi). As of 2024, it has a population of 207,351.

    The Babruyka (Belarusian: Бабруйка) is a small river in Belarus, a tributary to the Berezina (Biarezina). It flows through the eponymous city of Babruysk and is named after the beavers which used to inhabit it. Due to industrial pollution, there are no more animals inhabiting the river and its flow has been reduced to a fraction of its former self.

    The Battle of Bobrujsk took place between February 2 – March 11, 1918. Units of the Polish I Corps in Russia, commanded by General Józef Dowbor-Muśnicki, fought with the Red Army over the control of the city of Babruysk (Polish: Bobrujsk), located in eastern Belarus.

    The 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship Division I was a pair of international ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Six teams played in each of the two groups. In addition to the usual promotion and relegation, the format (following this year) changed from two parallel tournaments, to two tiered tournaments. This means that the teams who finished 2nd and 3rd will be grouped together with the two relegated teams from the top division, and the teams who finished 4th and 5th will be grouped with the two promoted teams from Division II.
