Þorsteinn Pálsson (pronounced born 29 October 1947) is a former Prime Minister of Iceland for the Independence Party. He served from 8 July 1987 to 28 September 1988. Þorsteinn led the Independence Party from 1983 to 1991, when he lost an inner partial election to then vice-chairman of the party and mayor of Reykjavík, Davíð Oddsson.

Benedikt Ásgeirsson (born 7 February 1951, in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic diplomat and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland to the Russian Federation.

Benedikt Jónsson (born 25 November 1954, in Reykjavík) is the current Consul General of Iceland to the Faroe Islands. He has previously served as Icelandic ambassador to Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan (2001-2006), the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, Portugal (2009-2014), Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey (2014-2019) and also Permanent Secretary of State. He became first secretary in the foreign ministry in 1983 and subsequently served in the Icelandic embassy in Paris, as Deputy Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, as Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, as chief negotiator for EFTA with Mexico and Chile and as Chairman of the WTO Committee on Least Developed Countries.

Sverrir Haukur Gunnlaugsson (born 20 October 1942 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is an Icelandic lawyer and diplomat, who served as Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs 1999-2002 and as Ambassador i.a. to France 1994-1999 and to the United Kingdom 2003-2009. He was the Permanent Representative of Iceland to EFTA in Geneva 1987-1989 and to NATO in Brussels 1990-1994.
