Alpine skiers at the 1960 Winter Olympics

Prince Karim Al-Husseini Aga Khan (Arabic: شاه كريم الحسيني, Shāh Karīm al-Ḥusaynī; 13 December 1936 – 4 February 2025), known as the Aga Khan IV (Persian: آقاخان چهارم, Āqā Khān Chahārom), was a religious leader, businessman, and socialite best known as the 49th imam of Isma'ilism from 1957 until his death in 2025. He inherited the Nizari imamate and the title of Aga Khan at the age of 20 upon the death of his grandfather, the Aga Khan III. He was also known by the religious title Mawlānā Hazar Imam by his Isma'ili followers.

Barbara-Maria "Barbi" Henneberger (4 October 1940 – 12 April 1964) was an alpine ski racer and Olympic medalist from West Germany. She competed for the United Team of Germany at the 1960 and 1964 Winter Olympics, and at the 1962 World Championships.

Jean Vuarnet (18 January 1933 – 2 January 2017) was an alpine ski racer from France. An Olympic gold medalist, he was born in Le Bardo, Tunisia.

Karl Schranz (born 18 November 1938) is a former champion alpine ski racer from Austria, one of the best of the 1960s and early 1970s.

Josefine "Putzi" Frandl (later Crotty, born July 5, 1930) is an Austrian former alpine ski racer. She was among the world's best ski racers in the mid-1950s. She competed in the 1956 Winter Olympics, the 1958 Alpine World Ski Championships and the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Chiharu Igaya OLY (猪谷 千春, Igaya Chiharu, born May 20, 1931) is a former Olympic alpine ski racer and silver medalist from Japan. The first notable alpine racer from Asia, he competed at the Winter Olympics in 1952, 1956, and 1960.

Sonja McCaskie (19 February 1939 – 5 April 1963) was a British alpine skier who participated in the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Penelope Theresa "Penny" Pitou (born October 8, 1938) is a former United States Olympic alpine skier, who in 1960 became the first American skier to win a medal in the Olympic downhill event. In 2001, Pitou was inducted into the New England Women's Sports Hall of Fame.

Heidi Biebl (17 February 1941 – 20 January 2022) was a German alpine skier. Biebl won gold medal in the downhill at the 1960 Winter Olympics, just three days after her 19th birthday, becoming the games' youngest gold medal winner. She also competed at the 1964 Winter Olympics, finishing fourth in both the downhill and slalom events. Biebl died on 20 January 2022, at the age of 80.

Andreas "Anderl" Molterer (8 October 1931 – 25 October 2023) was an Austrian former alpine skier. He was born in Kitzbühel.
