21st-century Irish women writers

Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor shin-AYD (8 December 1966 – 26 July 2023) was an Irish singer, songwriter, and activist. Her debut studio album, The Lion and the Cobra, was released in 1987 and achieved international chart success. Her 1990 album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, was her biggest commercial success, selling over seven million copies worldwide. Its lead single, "Nothing Compares 2 U", was honoured as the top world single of the year at the Billboard Music Awards.

Aisling Clíodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984), known professionally as Aisling Bea ( ASH-ling BEE), is an Irish comedian, actor and writer. She created, wrote and starred in the comedy series This Way Up on Channel 4. As a stand-up comedian, she won the "So You Think You're Funny?" award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012, being only the second woman to win the award in its then twenty-five year history. She also regularly appears on light entertainment comedy panel shows such as QI and 8 Out of 10 Cats.

Yasmine Akram (born 11 March 1982) is an Irish-Pakistani actress, writer and comedian, best known for playing Janine Hawkins in the third series of Sherlock.

Hazel Hayes (born 21 January 1985) is an Irish YouTube filmmaker, author, and presenter. She is known for her interview series, Tipsy Talk, on her YouTube channel (formerly ChewingSand) as well as her series and short films. Her debut novel, Out Of Love, was published in 2020.

Sharon Lorencia Horgan (born 13 July 1970) is an Irish actress, writer, director, producer, and comedian. She is best known for creating and starring in the comedy series Pulling (2006–2009), Catastrophe (2015–2019), and Bad Sisters (2022–present). She also created the comedy series Divorce (2016–2019), Motherland (2016–present), and Shining Vale (2022–present).

Amy Huberman is an Irish actress and writer, known for her role as Daisy in the RTÉ drama series The Clinic. In 2018, she began writing and starring in the comedy series Finding Joy.

Pauline McLynn (born 11 July 1962) is an Irish character actress and author. She is best known for her roles as Mrs Doyle in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted, Libby Croker in the Channel 4 comedy drama Shameless, Tip Haddem in the BBC One comedy Jam & Jerusalem, and Yvonne Cotton in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. McLynn also appeared as a Garda in Sky One's Trollied.

Fionnuala Sweeney (born 1965) is an Irish anchorwoman and reporter. She had been based at CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, Sweeney was anchoring CNN Newsroom as well as serving as the primary substitute at the International Desk. She is known around Europe as the host of Eurovision Song Contest 1993 from Millstreet, County Cork.

Annabel Davis-Goff (born 19 February 1942) is an Irish novelist, academic, screenwriter and advocate, active in the United States.

Emma Eliza Regan (born 4 December 1992) is an Irish actress.
