20th-century Indonesian women writers

Toeti Heraty (also known as Toeti Heraty Noerhadi-Roosseno; November 27, 1933 – June 13, 2021) was an Indonesian poet.

Oka Rusmini (Ida Ayu Oka Rusmini) is an Indonesian poet and novelist. She is a recipient of the S.E.A. Write Award.

Nurhayati Srihardini Siti Nukatin Coffin (29 February 1936 – 4 December 2018), better known by her pen name Nh. Dini (sometimes NH Dini in English), was an Indonesian novelist and feminist. She was the youngest of five children of Saljowidjojo and Kusaminah. One branch of the family can be traced back to the Bugis of South Sulawesi.

Maria Dermoût (15 June 1888 – 27 June 1962) was an Indo-European novelist, considered one of the greats of Dutch literature and as such an important proponent of Dutch Indies literature. In December 1958 Time magazine praised the translation of Maria Dermoût's The Ten Thousand Things, and named it one of the best books of the year.

Siem Piet Nio (Chinese: 沈泌娘, b. 1907, d. 1986), who wrote under the pen name Hong Le Hoa, was an Indonesian language writer, magazine editor, journalist and Women's rights advocate from the Dutch East Indies who was active during the 1920s and 1930s.

Saadah Alim (1897-1968) was a writer, playwright, translator, journalist and educator in the Dutch East Indies and in Indonesia after independence. She was one of only a handful of Indonesian women authors to be published during the colonial period, alongside Fatimah Hasan Delais, Sariamin Ismail, Soewarsih Djojopoespito and a few others. She is known primarily for her journalism, her collection of short stories Taman Penghibur Hati (1941), and her comedic play Pembalasannya (1940).

Fatimah Hasan Delais (1915-1953), also known by the pen name Hamidah, was an Indonesian novelist and poet. Her novel Kehilangan mestika (Indonesian: Loss of the jewel), 1935, was among the first by a female author to be published by Balai Pustaka.

Henriette Marianne Katoppo (9 June 1943 – 12 October 2007) was an Indonesian novelist and internationally known Asian feminist theologian. She was a recipient of the S.E.A. Write Award.

Totilawati Tjitrawasita (1945 – 1982) was an Indonesian journalist and writer.

Titie Said was the pen name of Sitti Raya Kusumowardani (July 11, 1935 – October 24, 2011), an Indonesian writer and journalist.
