19th-century Roman Catholic bishops in the United States

James Augustine Healy (April 6, 1830 – August 5, 1900) was an American Roman Catholic priest and the second bishop of Portland, Maine; he was the first African-American Catholic priest (though it was not widely known) and was the first African-American bishop as well.

John Joseph Keane (September 12, 1839 – June 22, 1918) was an Irish-born American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Dubuque in Iowa from 1900 to 1911. He previously served as bishop of the Diocese of Richmond in Virginia from 1878 to 1888.

Edward Mary Fitzgerald (October 28, 1833—February 21, 1907) was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Little Rock from 1867 until his death in 1907.

Louis Aloysius Lootens (March 17, 1827 – January 13, 1898) was a Belgian-born prelate of the Catholic Church. He served as Vicar Apostolic of Idaho (1868–76) and auxiliary bishop of Vancouver Island (1876–98).

John Claude Neraz (January 12, 1828 – November 15, 1894) was a French-born clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of San Antonio from 1881 until his death in 1894.

Egidius Jünger, also spelled Aegidius Junger (April 6, 1833 – December 26, 1895), was a German-born clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Nesqually from 1879 until his death in 1895, the only bishop of Western Washington born in Europe.

Alfred Allen Paul Curtis (July 4, 1831 – July 11, 1908) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Wilmington (1886–1896) and Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore (1897–1908).

Charles Edward McDonnell (February 1, 1854 – August 8, 1921) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Brooklyn from 1892 until his death in 1921.

Peter Verdaguer y Prat (Sant Pere de Torelló, December 10, 1835 — Texas, October 26, 1911) was a Catalan-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Vicar Apostolic of Brownsville from 1890 until his death in 1911.

Louis Mary Fink, O.S.B., (July 12, 1834 – March 17, 1904) was a German-born Benedictine monk and prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the first Bishop of Leavenworth (1877-1904).
