    The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was a resort located near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It now operates as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The resort is located on 16.7 acres (6.8 ha) on the corner of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, about a mile east of the Las Vegas Strip. At the time of its closure, the Hard Rock included 1,506 rooms across several hotel towers, a 61,704-square-foot (5,732.5 m) casino, and a music venue known as The Joint. It had also hosted a weekly pool party event known as Rehab.

It consists of a six-story county administration building, three one-story buildings for the county commissioners’ chambers, a multipurpose community facility and a central plant. The building also includes space for government administration, a law enforcement complex, a performing arts complex, a child-care facility and structured parking. It also contains a single-story auditorium, a pyramid-shaped cafeteria and a cylindrical, six-story reception hall, as well as office buildings.

Texas native Frank Fertitta Jr., the hotel-casino's original owner, chose the Texas theme to appeal to customers from his home state. Fertitta sold the hotel-casino for $95 million to Station Casinos, his former company, prior to its opening on July 12, 1995. It was the largest hotel-casino in North Las Vegas at the time of its opening, with a 60,000 sq ft (5,600 m) casino and a six-story, 200-room hotel.

The Gold Dust West contains 17,600 square feet (1,640 m) of gaming space, with table games, video poker machines, and slots. The Gold Dust West hotel has 142 rooms. The facility also has a bowling center, snack bar, a heated outdoor swimming pool, and a large hot tub (open in the summer). Like the Gold Dust West Casino in Reno, Nevada, this facility is owned and operated by Jacobs Entertainment, Inc. The Pinon Plaza was owned by Clark Russell, who had owned the Carson Station Hotel Casino in Carson City. Russell operated a shuttle bus system that ran for several years between the Carson Station and the Pinon Plaza.
