The novels have been serialized in Dragon Magazine since 1989, before being published into individual volumes. They follow the adventures of teenage sorceress Lina Inverse and her companions as they journey through their world. Using powerful magic and swordsmanship they battle overreaching wizards, demons seeking to destroy the world, and an occasional hapless gang of bandits.

    The Irresponsible Captain Tylor (無責任艦長タイラー, Musekinin Kanchō Tairā) is an anime series based on The Most Irresponsible Man in Space (宇宙一の無責任男, Uchū Ichi no Musekinin Otoko) light novel series by Hitoshi Yoshioka, taking the title from its first volume. It was produced by some of Japan's larger studios, including Big West, Tatsunoko Production, King Records and VAP.

    The Moai Island Puzzle (孤島パズル, Kotō Pazuru, "Solitary Island Puzzle") is a 1989 Japanese mystery novel by Alice Arisugawa that falls into the honkaku (本格) subgenre of Japanese detective fiction. The novel is the second in a series featuring Jirō Egami as detective and the first Arisugawa book to be translated into English. It details a series of murders that occur among a group of vacationers on an island off Japan's coast. Like other novels in the same series, a character named Alice Arisugawa takes part in the events and narrates them to readers by breaking the fourth wall.

The first novel in the series, subtitled Kamigami no Mikotachi (神々の巫子たち, trans. The Shamans of the Gods), was published in September 1989 by Kadokawa Shoten under the Sneaker Bunko imprint. It was adapted into an original video animation and released in 1990.

    Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash (機動戦士ガンダム 閃光のハサウェイ, Kidō Senshi Gandamu: Senkō no Hasauei), also known as Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, is a novel series created and written by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Officially part of the Gundam metaseries, it was first published by Kadokawa Shoten under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label from February 1, 1989, to April 1, 1990, with a total of three volumes. The story revolves around Hathaway Noa, who now goes by the name Mafty Navue Erin, as he starts a terrorist group to stop the abuses of the Earth Federation. The novel was notable for being the only semi-canonical Gundam work by Tomino. A three-part theatrical film adaptation was formally announced by Bandai Namco Filmworks (formerly known as Sunrise) as part of the "UC NexT 0100" project. The first film was released on June 11, 2021.
