    Atrani, Coast of Amalfi is a lithograph print by the Dutch artist M. C. Escher, first printed in August 1931. Atrani is a small town and commune on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. Atrani is the second smallest town in Italy and was built right at the edge of the sea. This image of Atrani recurs several times in Escher's work, most notably in his series of Metamorphosis prints: Metamorphosis I, II and III.

    Einstein's Blackboard is a blackboard which physicist Albert Einstein (1879–1955) used on 16 May 1931 during his lectures while visiting the University of Oxford in England. The blackboard is in the collection of the History of Science Museum in Oxford. The equations in the blackboard are related to the cosmological model known as Friedmann–Einstein universe.

    “Pomegranate Seed” is a short story by American writer Edith Wharton. This story was first published by The Saturday Evening Post on April 25, 1931. The story was then included in Wharton's collection of short fiction, The World Over in 1936, and in her collection, Ghosts, published in 1937.
