16th-century Portuguese painters

Cristóvão Lopes (c.) was a Portuguese painter.

Garcia Fernandes (died c. 1565) was a Portuguese Renaissance painter. Like many of painters of the time, Garcia Fernandes was a pupil in the Lisbon workshop of Jorge Afonso, who was the court painter of King Manuel I.

Jorge Afonso (c. 1470 – 1540) was a noted Portuguese Renaissance painter.

The Master of Lourinhã (Portuguese: Mestre da Lourinhã) was a Portuguese painter of religious scenes active between 1510 and 1525. He might have been of North Netherlandish origin. He has been named after the church Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lourinhã, Lisbon District, where two of his paintings are exhibited.

Diogo de Contreiras was a Portuguese Mannerist painter, active between 1521 and 1562. He has been identified as the painter referred to as the Master of Saint Quentin. The identification of de Contreiras as the Master of Saint Quentin was determined by Martin Soria (1957) and later reinforced by Vítor Serrão.

Francisco Venegas (c. 1525 – 1594), was a Spanish painter active in Portugal in the last quarter of the sixteenth century. He was one of the most notable mannerist painters active in the country during that period.
