Pilip Ballach Ó Duibhgeannáin (fl. 1579–1590) was an Irish hereditary historian and member of Clan Ó Duibhgeannáin. The 20th century historian, Paul Walsh, suggested that he was a son of Fer Caogad mac Ferghal Ó Duibhgeannáin, who died at Cloonybried in 1581. Ó Duibhgeannáin was a resident of Cloonybrien, County Roscommon.

The Book of the de Burgos or Book of the Burkes (Irish: Leabhar na Búrca; Latin: Liber Burgensis) is a late 16th-century Gaelic illuminated manuscript held by the Library of Trinity College Dublin as MS 1440, Historia et Genealogia Familiae de Burgo. The book consists of seventy-five folios, twenty-two of which remain blank.

The Aubin Codex is an 81-leaf Aztec codex written in alphabetic Nahuatl on paper from Europe. Its textual and pictorial contents represent the history of the Aztec peoples who fled Aztlán, lived during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, and into the early Spanish colonial period, ending in 1608. It is now in the British Museum in London.

Examination of the Council of Trent (Latin: Examen Concilii Tridentini, 1565–73) is a large theological work of Lutheran Reformer Martin Chemnitz.

Ascent of Mount Carmel (Spanish: Subida del Monte Carmelo) is a 16th-century spiritual treatise by Spanish Catholic mystic and poet Saint John of the Cross. The book is a systematic treatment of the ascetical life in pursuit of mystical union with Christ, giving advice and reporting on his own experience. Alongside another connected work by John, The Dark Night, it details the so-called Dark Night of the Soul, when the individual Soul undergoes earthly and spiritual privations in search of union with God. These two works, together with John's The Living Flame of Love and the Spiritual Canticle, are regarded as some of the greatest works both in Christian mysticism and in the Spanish language.
