Seriously? I'm first?
Well, I assume it won't last long. More like an ''instant crush at first sight'' scenario.
Hiddleston will probably end up in his early 40s engaged to some equally intellectual above-average looking lady like Benedict Cumberbatch did.
We are talking about classically-trained mostly theater Brit actor who is known for being a ''extremely nerdy and extremely well spoken gentleman'' and a media-overhyped, quite immature (behaviour, not just age) country-pop American singer. @TaylorSwiftandTomHiddleston
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston first met at 2016 MET Gala on May 2, 2016. They danced together during the event, and sparks seemed to fly between them, although Swift was dating Calvin Harris at the time.
The pair began dating in June 2016, quickly after Swift’s split from long-term boyfriend Calvin Harris in late May. They were spotted together for the first time on June 15, 2016. Media speculated that Taylor cheated on Calvin with Tom, but she apparently began dating Tom about two weeks after her split from Calvin. Tom supposedly sent her flowers as soon as he found out about Taylor and Calvin’s break-up.
Just a few hours after Swift and Hiddleston made their relationship public, Calvin Harris unfollowed her on social media, even though before he claimed that they were on good terms.
After two months of a public relationship with lots of pictures of them traveling together and also of Swift meeting Hiddleston’s mother in England, Swift and Hiddleston broke up in mid August 2016. Their break-up was confirmed on September 6, 2016.
In a February 2017 interview to GQ Magazine, Hiddleston publicly talked about their romance:
The British actor, briefly more famous for wearing a “I ♥ T.S.” t-shirt on the beach than playing Loki in The Avengers and Thor movies, reveals in a new GQ cover story interview that last summer’s short-lived fling was no publicity stunt — and it’s all good.
“Taylor is an amazing woman,” the actor says in his first on-the-record comments about his ex, who he started dating shortly after her year-long relationship with Calvin Harris came to an end. “She’s generous and kind and lovely and we had the best time.”
“Of course it was real,” Hiddleston told the mag about the surprise 90-day romance that blew up after the pair were pictured kissing on the beach in Rhode Island, which quickly progressed to a trip to England to meet his family and a joint jaunt to Australia, where he was shooting Thor: Ragnarok.
Alas, as hot as their passion burned, it didn’t last and all Hiddleston can do is try to explain that... t-shirt. “The truth is, it was the Fourth of July and a public holiday and we were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back. And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, ’Does anyone have a T-shirt?’,“ he explains. "And one of her friends said, ’I’ve got this.’”
This, of course, was the T.S.-loving tank top that GQ joked all of "Taylor’s friends are contractually obligated to own.” It wasn’t a sign of too much too soon, Hiddleston says. “We all laughed about it. It was a joke... it was a joke... among friends.“
That wasn’t all Hiddleston, 35, had to say about it, though. He added that he’s learned to be psychologically strong about not letting other people’s interpretations of his life affect said life. "A relationship exists between two people. We will always know what it was,” he says. “The narratives that are out there altogether have been extrapolated from pictures that were taken without consent or permission, with no context. Nobody had the context for that story. And I’m still trying to work out a way of having a personal life and protecting it, but also without hiding. So the hardest thing is that that was a joke among friends on the Fourth of July.”
You got that? Good, because he’s not done. “I just, I was surprised. I was just surprised that it got so much attention,” he says. “The tank top became an emblem of this thing.” Enough about the t-shirt, though — Hiddleswift couldn’t last because sometimes the spotlight just burns too brightly.
"I only know the woman I met,” he says of Swift, with whom he just wanted a “regular” relationship, as did she. “She’s incredible... a relationship always takes work. A relationship in the limelight takes work... So we decided to go out for dinner, we decided to travel.”
On November 10, 2017, Swift released her sixth studio album “Reputation” and one of the songs, called “Getaway Car” is widely believed to be about Hiddleston.
“Well he was running after us, I was screaming “Go, go, go!”/But with three of us, honey, it’s a side show/And a circus ain’t a love story/And now we’re both sorry” sings Swift, supposedly referring to Hiddleston and Harris.
In the lyrics, Swift presumably admits that it was she who ended their relationship, since she knew their relationship wouldn’t work out: “ Should’ve known I’d be the first to leave/Think about the place where you first met me/In a getaway car/No, we’d never get far.”
